What to expect:

American Journal of Sports Medicine

BSMF participates in several multi-centre randomized clinical trials (RCTs), leads local RCTs, and maintains large-scale prospective surgical cohort studies. These comprehensive surgical cohorts include demographic, pathoanatomic, and surgical outcomes data for patellar instability and anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions, representing some of the largest study cohorts of these patient populations worldwide.

The Fellow will have the opportunity to lead several research projects that encompass topics related to sports, knee ligament reconstruction, and treatment of recurrent patellar instability. Throughout the year, the Fellow will be fully involved in the clinical research pathway and engaged in multiple research projects and manuscripts. Regular contributions and participation in journal club and clinical case rounds are expected. There will also be opportunities to present at conferences.

Fellows will also have the opportunity to observe sport-related musculoskeletal trauma and reconstructive surgery. The focus of the practice is advanced arthroscopic and open reconstructive techniques for the knee and shoulder including: primary and revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, treatment of recurrent patellar instability including trochleoplasty, tibial and femoral osteotomies, osteochondral and meniscal allograft transplantation, and shoulder surgery including arthroscopic stabilization, Latarjet, Remplissage, and rotator cuff repair.

Funding

The Fellow will be supported by a stipend funded by a Zimmer Biomet Educational Grant.
